Senior Auditor

Would you like to use your expertise to support the national government in ensuring reliable, transparent accountability? We are looking for senior auditors for our database with a proven track record in financial and/or multidisciplinary auditing. Your expertise is invaluable, whether it lies in financial audit, operational audit, or thematic areas such as sustainability (CSRD) and soft controls.

About the Assignment

As part of the 2026–2030 Framework Agreement for Audit Services, we are seeking senior auditors for assignments within the Dutch central government. Two types of assignments are available on an ongoing basis: targeted financial audit assignments (including those for the Central Government Audit Service) and broader multidisciplinary audit assignments (financial, operational, and thematic).

Financial Audit

Conducting audit work as part of the statutory audit mandate (including at the Central Government Audit Service), focusing on audits of annual financial statements and financial accountability across various departments of the central government.

  • Conducting audit procedures as part of the statutory audit engagement
  • Preparing and conducting audits of various accounts
  • Collaborate with the project leader and fellow auditors at audit sites

Multidisciplinary Audit

More versatile in results-oriented audit engagements that combine financial, operational, and thematic work.

  • Audit activities for the purpose of managing and controlling organizational units
  • Audit Services to Support Management
  • Providing accounting products and services
  • Providing audit-related specialized expertise

Will you become our new colleague?

We are looking for a professional who fits the following profile:

  • At least 5 years of relevant work experience in financial audit, operational audit, or a comparable position.
  • A completed associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, IT auditing, or operational auditing.
  • Preferably RA or RO.
  • Knowledge of audit principles, research methods, and techniques; knowledge of audit methodology within the federal government is a plus.
  • Demonstrable experience with at least some of the following types of audit work: governance and control, management support, audit services (annual financial statement audit, audit report),
  • Experience in, or demonstrable specialized knowledge of, one or more of the following areas is preferred: procurement and contracting, financial audit, WPG, BOD/investigation, or grants/USK.
  • Strong analytical skills and sound judgment: able to translate complex issues into clear findings and recommendations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A proactive and results-oriented work ethic, with a focus on quality and integrity.

Screening: Certificate of Good Conduct (VOG) required in accordance with the terms of the assignment

Please note: In many cases, it is not permitted to participate in the assignment on a self-employed (ZZP) basis. In such cases, a temporary employment contract may be entered into by mutual agreement.
